LEOSA Qualification

This course of fire is offered to qualified current and retired law enforcement officers and retired members of the military with valid LEOSA credentials (pending are not accepted). An HR218 LEOSA handgun weapons card will be issued with a qualifying score. This is a timed 50-round course fired from 5 to 15 yards. One hour will be given for practice, training, and qualification.

Click here for the course of fire.

Beginning January 2021, each string of fire during the qualification will begin with the holstered handgun covered with your outer shirt or jacket. Training and practice time to draw will be given prior to the qualification. Because the outer shirt will be lifted to expose the holstered handgun, participants are encouraged to also wear an undershirt.

If you are an Arlington County Police Department LEOSA Qualification participant, please contact us for alternate arrangements, which would entail a separate, VA TQC3 course of fire.

PREREQUISITES: Driver’s License and Law Enforcement current or retired credentials or a military LEOSA card.

  • Handgun (pistol or revolver) authorized by your agency
  • 60 rounds of ammunition (an additional ten-round practice course of fire is offered as an option immediately preceeding the 50-round qualification)
  • Two magazines (semi-auto) or two speedloaders (revolver)
  • OWB, IWB, or patrol duty holster of rigid construction (e.g., plastic or leather, must conceal trigger and trigger guard, must NOT collapse when pistol is removed from the holster)

PRICE: $35 (non-refundable). If you do not already have a ESS range card, there is an additional $10 fee for range orientation. Must be 21 or older to take this course.
